The moment I created this beat, it instantly woke up the breakdancer inside me. There is a raw, electric energy pulsing through it. Back in my breakdancing prime in the late 80s, certain tracks would light a fire in me, making it impossible not to move. When I started battling local dancers in Morgantown, West Virginia, there were specific songs that fueled my drive to win. Egyptian Lover, Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa, “Apache” by The Incredible Bongo Band, and Herbie Hancock’s “Rock It” were my anthems. These tracks were my battle cries, and that’s exactly why I named this instrumental single “Prepared 4 Battle.” It brings back that same rush, that unmistakable b-boy bounce.
