My 2nd Year at Black Policy Day in Charleston WV

This is my second year attending Black Policy Day in Charleston, WV, and it always recharges my energy to see so many people committed to helping their communities in various ways. I particularly love witnessing the involvement of young children at such an early age. It’s inspiring to brainstorm with local artists like Hugh Holla, Aristotle Jones, and Crystal Good from Black By God. Collaborating with delegates Anitra Hamilton, Sean Hornbuckle, Mike Pushkin, former delegate Danielle Walker, and many others to address the concerns and issues facing black communities in West Virginia has been an incredible experience.

I also had the opportunity to meet Pastor Brad Davis from McDowell County. He was featured in a 60 Minutes TV special that highlighted the dire conditions in the area. We share a mutual friend and ally in Mark Kemp, who is involved with the Reconnecting McDowell project.
