Fight for LOVE was written for people whose personal anthem is all about bringing folks together through the power of love, connection, compassion, and respect– regardless of their respective differences.
I wrote this song as I reflected on fond memories I shared in my 100 Days in Appalachia article about my brother James monstalung.com/my-brother-james-not-by-blood-but-by-love/ . James was my brother by love and not by blood, and we couldn’t be any more different; however, our common connection was always love and respect, regardless of our differences.
Lyrics:
Hook: Fighting for Love x 8
Verse 1
This conversation exhausting, unnecessary tension
We fell for the plot, conquered by division
Back and forth screaming, nobody listens
It’s my way or the highway and everyone the victim
Its ok, for us to have difference of belief
But the hate has to cease, there’s no need for the beef
Embrace this new modern-day family, lets protect new ways
Community and love for humanity, and help the ones in pain
Back to the village raising up the kiddies
Coaches, mentors, youth activities committees
From the city to the hollow we need ya
Developing our young future leaders
Got to make it a safe place for them to live in
And the percentage is better if we do it together
Hook: Fighting for Love x8
We gotta do a little extra at home
Its addictive influence and bullshit on that phone
Evil being posted on all platforms
The algorithm has no morals just shows the ads more
So the love has to come from somewhere, and it needs to be YOU
Let’s show that some care, even with opposite of views
But recognize the agenda of fear and hate
And all my bully defenders I know you can relate
It is time for us to get off the bench,
let good represent, Protect and prevent
Sometimes you have to check em, the little ones are watching
Conversation, no need to disrespect them, just 2 humans talking but one is
Hook: Fighting for Love x8
